Innovative Rectangular Magnet Wires for Use in Powertrain Applications

Abstract:
Powertrain applications forced the magnet wire manufactures to improve their products to meet new and higher requirements especially for 800V environments. To increase the lifetime and to withstand the harsh conditions of inverter driven motors at high voltages improvements regarding adhesion, film thicknesses and materials had to be introduced. A cross functional team at SHWire took this challenge and after a period of two years new designed products could be developed. The innovative result of these developments is shown in this paper.
