Abstract:
This paper presents the design, manufacturing and testing of concentrated windings for electric machines using a novel approach to produce completely ceramic insulated copper coils. This additive manufacturing technique called 3D multi material printing was developed at Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC). In order to demonstrate the usability of these coils, their application is shown using the example of a salient pole stator. Especially the handling and installation process will be highlighted since it differs widely from conventional polymer insulated copper structures. The benefits and drawbacks of this winding technology will be discussed concerning precalculated and measured data under operation of a switched reluctance topology.
