Abstract:
This paper presents a particular model of a 3D-printed switched reluctance machine (SRM), which is manufactured by the 3D multi-material printing technology. This specific additive manufacturing process was developed at Chemnitz University of Technology, which gives the possibility to combine different materials including iron, copper, and ceramic in a printing job. This research proposes an evolved structure for a switched reluctance machine, based on [1]. The main concept is to deconstruct the general SRM into three identical parts, which means that three stators and three rotors are formed together to complete one single machine. The magnetic characteristic of the 3D-printed SRM is evaluated with finite element analysis (FEA) under the framework of ANSYS EM. The analysis is specifically based on a 3D FEA approach, due to the three-dimensional flux guidance in the proposed machine.
