Abstract:
Electric vehicle charging causes an additional burden on the power grid, especially considering the comparably high charging powers. Battery storage systems offer one possibility to decrease stress on the power grid. In this publication, the focus is on a battery storage system that is used in combination with electric vehicle charging in an underground parking space of a residential building complex. Before testing this approach in a field test, simulations are performed to test different operation strategies. Besides a schedule for the battery system, an operation strategy including a live meas-urement is also investigated. The scheduling is able to decrease the stress significantly, but not completely. Including a power measurement, the battery storage is able to prevent high power peaks totally in simulations, unfortunately this was not validated in the field test due to a malfunction of the battery system.
