Abstract:
The ambiguity-to-signal ratio, one of the most important performance indicators of the SAR system, is affected by various factors such as SAR system parameters including the SAR antenna radiation pattern. In this paper, we analyzed the effect of the antenna cross-pol pattern on the ambiguity performance of the spaceborne quad-pol SAR system using an X-band reflector antenna. We divided the ambiguous signals into several components according to their characteristics. In addition, we compared the ambiguity components based on the co-pol and cross-pol patterns of the reflector antenna obtained by simulation tool. In the simulated scenario for a small satellite, the comparison results show that the effect of the antenna cross-pol pattern is relatively small compared with other factors.
