Signal Improvement Capability (SIC) for CAN FD Networks

Abstract:
At higher data bit rates and larger CAN FD networks the signal integrity problems are getting worse on the bus wires. This paper introduces the functionality of the signal improvement capability (SIC) for CAN FD transceivers that reduces the ringing, and enables larger topology flexibility for CAN networks. This article introduces the background, the recently published CiA 601-4 version 2.0.0 and the outlook for CAN.
