Abstract:
Within this work the results of an investigation on unitized reversible PEM fuel cells are presented. For this purpose the functional principle and the current state of research are briefly presented and evaluated. Additionally, an experimental evaluation of an in-house designed laboratory-scale single cell is carried out. The results show that the system can operate both effectively and flexibly for electrical energy storage applications. However, the achieved power density in fuel cell mode was relatively low compared to separated systems. Furthermore, operational measures for a stable switching behavior are identified.
