Abstract:
In this paper, the integration and design aspects are detailed for an entry to the Google Littlebox Challenge. The motivation for the general design approach is presented, and the selected converter topology namely FraCa topology is described in terms of its passive and active component contributions to meet the objective volumetric power density. Afterwards, the mechanical design constraints and solutions are highlighted in order to minimize the wasted volume to air, and the thermal management is described in order to optimize the thermal resistance. Finally, the topology is experimentally confirmed at 97.2 % CEC and 98.1 % peak efficiency, meeting both the power density and efficiency targets.
