Abstract:
In this contribution, we utilize light refractive tomography (LRT) to quantify the sound field of an airborne ultrasound transducer operating at 40 kHz. The most important component of the experimental setup is a laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV). By using tomographic reconstruction, LRT provides both, spatially and temporal resolved data for acoustic pressure in optically transparent media. Since LRT is an optical method, it is non-invasive and does not affect the resulting pressure field. Comparisons of LRT and conventional microphone measurements reveal that the maximum deviation for the investigated airborne transducer is in the range of 10%.
