Abstract:
This paper investigates the impact of orbital water wave velocities on multichannel clutter characteristics. A theoretical sea clutter model was derived, which shows that the multichannel characteristics are different for sea clutter with regard to land clutter. An important implication of this modification is the broadening of the space-time filter notch. To confirm the predicted properties, real multichannel land and sea data, which were acquired with the X-band radar system PAMIR, were evaluated. Furthermore, simulations were performed with the proposed model, which match well with the real data sets.
