Abstract:
A method was presented for soil moisture retrieval which is based on considering different kinds of interaction of radar electromagnetic waves in different frequencies. A vegetation index was defined and a relationship was developed between the index and C-HH backscatter. Then, the effect of vegetation from L-band backscatter in HH and VV polarizations was removed by using the index and soil moisture was retrieved by Dubois model inversion. Average of error absolute values was 0.0431.
