A Cost-Effective and Configurable SAR Calibration Transponder

Abstract:
A new calibration transponder is described based on a configurable architecture. This allows for quick and cost effective deployment in a basic form which will allow a flying SAR to be calibrated, but with optional forms of on ground monitoring that allow for different configurations to be deployed in the same transponder array. The modular design and monitoring functions make for ease of front line maintenance minimising system downtime and avoiding over complex field test equipment.
