Abstract:
With the development of power grid interconnection, once a disturbance occurs, the propagation of the disturbance might cause cascading events and even large blackouts. Therefore, the reveal of disturbance propagation characteristics is of great importance for the power system security. In this paper, the distinct features of disturbance propagation in practical power networks are elaborated. By introducing inverse process of lumped mass method, the impact scope of generator inertia is proposed. Then the structural frame model of power networks for disturbance propagation is built, which is spatially sectionalized homogeneous. Furthermore, the equation of electromechanical wave in the basic unit of the proposed model is derived. Simulation results in IEEE 14 buses system are given to show the validity of the structural frame model.?
