Abstract:
A Multi-Dwelling Unit (MDU) Pre-connectorized Fiber Optic System (Ascend(TM)) allows for quicker and easier installation of Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) networks. This system is made up a set of products that when deployed together will avoid the need for high skill personnel to be present during the installation and hence allowing a more scalable deployment. This system can be further improved by combining it with bend insensitive fiber of type R5 (ClearCurve(R)) (i.e. bending radius of 5mm), which can yield a more efficient and robust system while still maintaining the previous mentioned advantages. This paper will describe in details the MDU Pre-connectorized Fiber Optic System with bend insensitive fiber (Ascend(TM)) and will aim at providing an in-depth analysis of the advantages that it provides
