Abstract:
In an effort to promote research into several areas of hearing aid algorithm design, the German federal ministry of education and science is funding a research project on hearing instrument development and evaluation that involves several partners from research and industry. An integrated approach is pursued that covers auditory models, algorithm development, laboratory tests and field tests. Several areas of hearing aid algorithms are covered, e.g. noise reduction, beamforming, dynamic compression and fitting methods, feedback suppression, and binaural algorithms. The partners involved are: Universität Oldenburg, HörTech Oldenburg, Hörzentrum Oldenburg, Jade-Hochschule Oldenburg, Medizinische Hochschule Hannover, Universität Gießen und Marburg, Jean-Uhrmacher-Institut Köln, Siemens Audiologische Technik. Research platform used throughout the project is the HörTech Master Hearing Aid. This report gives an overview of the project activities and focuses on evaluation measurements in different stages of algorithm development.
