Abstract:
The paper consists in demonstrating seasonal dynamics of polarimetric properties of the natural land cover backscatter. Data set of 14 ALOS PALSAR images of the eastern coast of the Baikal Lake (Siberia) was processed. The results of a multi-temporal full-polarimetric classification and of two polarimetric decomposition methods were analyzed. Scattering mechanisms’ dependence on seasonal weather conditions was revealed and estimated for different types of land cover. Significant changes in polarimetric decomposition results for winter acquisitions were discovered and discussed.
