Abstract:
This paper presents a new type of planar EBG separator composed by meander line short-circuited at the ground plane by pins. With respect to the conventional mushroom structure, the structure exhibits the properties to a better suppression of grazing space-wave in addition to an equivalent suppression of TM surface waves, thus further reducing coupling. Both with respect to mushroom structures and short circuited straight strips introduced in the past, the meander is more compact thus augmenting the performance when integrated in planar dense arrays.
