Abstract:
This paper describes a comparison between slotted patch EBG structure and mushroom EBG structure. Two types of EBG have been presented. The first type is a conventional mushroom EBG structure while the one is slotted patch EBG structure. The performance has been made based on forward transmission coefficient, S21. The transmission line on normal FR4 board shows the signal between 1 GHz to 8 GHz can propagate through the transmission line with good S21 value. For mushroom EBG structure, one band gap frequency has been noticed at the frequency ranges between 2.50 GHz and 3.44 GHz. For the slotted patch EBG structure, two band gap frequency ranges have been noticed. The first band gap frequency range is between 2.29 GHz and 2.81 GHz while another one noticed at 5.10 GHz and 6.31 GHz.
