Abstract:
This paper, presents an optimized design for a novel Printed Modified Elliptical Monopole (PMEM) antenna. The proposed antenna covers the band 3.1 to 10.6 GHz, which has approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as a commercial band for Impulse Radio Ultra-WideBand (IR-UWB) communications. A parametric study of the proposed antenna was carried out in order to optimize the main parameters. The PMEM antenna has a measured fractional bandwidth of 115.3%.
