Abstract:
This paper addresses the topology design of hierarchical Hybrid Fiber-VDSL Access Networks (HFVANs) as a NP-hard problem. An efficient strategy is proposed to find a cost-effective and high-reliable network topology in a short time. Some modern heuristic methods are systematically investigated and successfully implemented for this network planning problem, both for clustering and positioning. In terms of numerical results, the performance of these methods are compared and analyzed, which can contribute to other backbone or access network design problems.
