Abstract:
In this paper we describe a miniature rectangular loop antenna integratable on chip with other active circuitry for near-field scanning of printed circuit boards (PCB) as well as large scale integrated (LSI) circuits. Our target frequency range is from 1MHz to 3GHz and is planned to extend upto 10GHz. Electromagnetic (EM) field simulation results from two simulators are compared and a lumped equivalent circuit is presented taking the skin effect into account. Finally, a new rectangular loop structure using the via-hole and backside metallization is proposed.
