Abstract:
This paper provides measurements and modeling results of multiple reflections effect in common multilayer and optically thin building materials. Two representative structures are investigated, a gypsum plaster slab covered with white paint and a thin PVC plate. In contrast to bulk materials, the reflection losses show strong oscillations over the frequency which result from interference. The achieved results can be used for planning aspects of future indoor ultra wideband communication systems at millimeter and sub-millimeter wavelengths.
