Abstract:
The GB electricity industry model is one of the most competitive systems worldwide and based on an island network only supported by two DC-links with relatively limited capacity. This requires the use of a number of innovative concepts for maximizing available transfer capacities and for minimizing market intervention. After a short introduction of the British electricity industry model and the GB Electricity Transmission System, operational aspects, such as generator performance requirements, balancing services and the management of network constraints are described in more detail.
