Abstract:
The number of techniques has been developed to increase the ability of distinguishing different scatterers and increasing the readability of SAR images. This paper presents a new technique, which enables to identify directional scattering mechanisms and thus to distinguish different areas of interests. The presented method, called color mapping technique, is the extension of well known multilook processing. The sub-looks calculated in the classical multilook processing are used to produce artificial coloring in SAR image and enhance the quality of the image. The paper presents the theoretical background of the proposed technique and the results obtained using real-life data collected using X band maritime patrol radar.
