Abstract:
In this paper, objectives and a progress report of a new Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) raw signal simulator (CiRawSiS) are presented. It is based on the direct computation of time domain chirp echoes, and takes as an explicit input the aircraft three-dimensional position and the exact pulse emission time. In order to increase the computational efficiency, the trade off between memory and computational speed is exploited and a pre-computation of some features of the radar impulse response function (IRF) is implemented. This raw signal simulator is being developed to support performance monitoring of Argentine L-band airborne SAR (SARAT) and orbital SAOCOM/SAR mission.
