Abstract:
In acoustic echo cancellation approaches oftentimes a frequency-domain adaptive filter (FDAF) is employed. Its performance depends crucially on the step size control. Nitsch derived an optimum frequency-selective step size using several assumptions. Starting from the same cost function, we fully rederive a step size formula under weaker assumptions in order to find a more accurate and robust result which furthermore does not need an estimate of the near-end signal power anymore. Its superiority is proven by simulations of the convergence behavior in terms of the system distance.
