Abstract:
In this paper, we show the equivalences and relationships among some of the well-known classes of structured Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes and consider application of these codes to magnetic recording channel. We make performance comparisons both in terms of the Bit Error Rate (BER) and the Sector Failure Rate (SFR). In these comparisons, we assume that a structured LDPC code is concatenated with a conventional Reed-Solomon (RS) code.
