Abstract:
In this paper, the design of laminated turbo codes of different rates and lengths is addressed. A construction for laminated turbo codes over a wide range of rates is presented. Furthermore, we show that laminated turbo codes provide high rate flexibility without suffering any significant performance degradation. In addition, the impact of the code length on the error probability is considered and results are presented showing that laminated turbo codes inherently exhibit good convergence properties – even for relatively small code lengths.
