Abstract:
Radio Access Networks based on WiMAX technology are currently soliciting considerable attraction. Based on an OFDM type air interface and realizing fully IP based radio access network solutions WiMAX technology is considered playing an important role in emerging deployments for high data rate radio access networks. This status report gives an overview on the current status of WiMAX technology as well as its short and long term evolution perspectives, covering key technical characteristics together with related performance benefits as well as standardisation related aspects for IEEE 802.16 and the WiMAX forum.
