Inhalt:
A heterogeneous network consists of macro base stations and numerous pico base stations. Without efficient mitigation of interference between macro cells and pico cells, user equipments (UEs) at cell edge suffer from strong interference and their performance will be degraded. This paper investigates and evaluates the multi-layer rate splitting scheme in a realistic macro-pico network. Simulation results for two cell-edge UEs which endure interference show that the multi-layer rate splitting scheme can substantially improve the performance in terms of average throughput as well as cell-edge and peak throughput.
